Kiribati Institute of Technology (KIT) is a leading vocational education and training institute in Kiribati offering in-demand award and short courses for trades and non-trades industries. With over 50 years of experience (since 1970), our quality training will enhance your employment opportunities domestically and internationally through accredited and non-accredited courses. KIT is a government-owned TVET Institute; a division of the Government of Kiribati Ministry of Employment and Human Resource (MEHR), working in close partnership with the Marine Training Centre (MTC). Each year, KIT enrols over 500 students into our two campuses and two island learning centre locations for full-time accredited qualifications. Over 800 students participate in short courses (units accredited to a qualification) each term. KIT has two semesters and four terms each year. KIT launched its Kiritimati Island campus in 2019. We also have learning centres on the islands of Abemama (opened in 2018) and Abaiang (opened in 2025) . Our campuses offer a friendly, safe, clean, and culturally sensitive training environment with modern resources and support services. At KIT, all of our courses are designed and delivered to assist you to find employment in your chosen field. KIT qualifications are recognised in Australia, New Zealand and throughout the Asia-Pacific region, which provides further options for study overseas. KIT is accredited with the Educational Quality and Assessment Programme (EQAP) and may have sub-contract agreements in place with Australian Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) to award international qualifications through its Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) model.
