'Te Katiteuanaaki' Kiribati for Inclusion

Bridging course students outside one of their training classrooms. The Bridging course provides a positive outlook for the whole community, who are engaged in the process of recruitment from the outset. “I see the course as a great opportunity for young people in our village. We have an increasing number of youth in our village. They are full of vitality and they need guidance to channel that energy towards the right path…The Bridging course brings positive changes to my son and the family. As a father, it makes me so happy to see him committed to his studies and full of hope for a better future.” said Tokatake Teiwaki, father of another Bridging student. Bridging graduates often progress onto further study at Kiribati Institute of Technology, particularly in English certificates as the next step towards their desired vocation. This opens up more doors by increasing their capabilities in their second language, and graduates have taken up local employment opportunities in fields such as construction or electrical, with one Bridging student having become a policeman. “I see the course as a great opportunity for young people in our village.” 3
