'Te Katiteuanaaki' Kiribati for Inclusion

About the Kiribati Facility The Kiribati Facility is a major component of the Australian Government’s education aid investment in Kiribati. The Kiribati Facility is predominantly delivered through Kiribati Institute of Technology. Preceding the Kiribati Facility input was the Kiribati Technical and Vocational Education and Training Sector Strengthening Program. Kiribati Institute of Technology is the leading technical and vocational education and training institute in Kiribati and a division of the Government of Kiribati’ Ministry of Employment and Human Resource. Kiribati Institute of Technology works closely with other education providers such as Marine Training Centre in Kiribati, tertiary providers such as The University of the South Pacific, and community and civil society groups such as Kiribati Women and Children Support Centre, and Te Toa Matoa. A skilled and flexible I-Kiribati workforce is recognised as an important enabler to address the distinctive economic, social and geographic challenges facing Kiribati in the 21 st century. Inclusive skills training is a key development priority in Kiribati to increase access to paid employment for I-Kiribati locally, regionally, and internationally. The Kiribati Facility supports the development of a more capable, qualified and mobile I-Kiribati workforce through flexible and inclusive skills training at Kiribati Institute of Technology. The Kiribati Facility engages technical advisers and employs local staff at Kiribati Institute of Technology, as well as developing strong local, multilateral partner, and stakeholder relationships across the Pacific to respond and adapt to labour market demand. In 2021, the Kiribati Facility with its predecessor, the Kiribati Technical and Vocational Education and Training Sector Strengthening Program, marks 10 years of Australian aid support to Kiribati Institute of Technology and the Ministry of Employment and Human Resource. The Kiribati Facility is supported by the Australian Government and implemented by Scope Global. 1
